Woman searches for semi in hit-and-run
DETROIT (WJBK) - A woman says a semi-truck driver ran a red light, smashed her car, and then took off on Detroit's east side.
Carla Langford says she was on her way to work Wednesday morning when a semi-truck slammed into her 2013 Nissan Altima. As she got out to survey the damage, she said he split.
"He hit my car so hard, he totaled it," Langford said. "All of my airbags deployed. It was a horrible experience, and I'm just hoping he comes forward."
Langford said she saw the other light turning red and thought it was safe to go. It wasn't. She said the truck driver kept going and when Langford tried to turn, her car and the semi truck collided. Her Nissan was destroyed and the truck stopped a short ways away. When the driver got out and saw what happened, she said he left.
"It was enough time for me to crawl out of the car, go into the middle of the street to try and wave at him, and he pulled off. He could have just checked to see if I was okay. That's all I'm saying," Langford said. "He knows it was bad, and I could have been dead."
Langford says it was still dark outside so she didn't get a good look at the driver.
She doesn't have any broken bones but that doesn't mean she's not in any pain.
"I'm hurting everywhere. My neck, my back. I sprained my ankle. But besides that, I'm blessed. I thank God that I'm able to walk and talk," Langford said.
Detroit Police confirm the accident happened but do not have any leads on the semi driver.
