Snow ends but cold temps hang around before a warm-up

Many Michigan roads are icy and snow-covered after a storm brought up to a foot or more of snow in places in northern Michigan. Here in the metro area, though, other than a leftover shower early this morning, the snow is over so it's time for a recap.

The National Weather Service also says that more than 12 inches was reported in Saginaw County. A report of a foot of snow came in from the Huron County community of Pigeon. Heavy snow was also reported in the Lansing area, and 6 inches was reported in Grand Rapids. Less snow fell in much of southeastern Michigan, including Detroit, but roads were hazardous.

SNOW TOTALS
Armada 6.0"
Howell 6.3"
White Lake 5.9"
Port Huron 4.3"
Roseville 4.0"
Wixom 3.0"
Newport 1.9"

Onward and upward!

Today will be colder with high temperatures stuck in the 20s and a breeze that will keep the wind chill in the teens.

Our next system passes well to our south Thursday and will spread light snow showers into SE Michigan, but it won't amount to much. It's looking like an inch or less for most, although areas along I-94 and south may sneak in a bit more than that.

It'll be a snow-free Friday with another round of light snow on the way Saturday with another system dropping in.

Then temps start to rise; 50's next week.
