Alleged cover-up affair by Michigan state reps investigated

A recording of  State Rep. Todd Courser (R-Lapeer) surfaced telling one of his staffers to send out a bogus email claiming Courser had sex with a male prostitute.

But that outrageous lie was apparently part of a scheme to cover up the real affair that Courser was having with State Rep. Cindy Gamrat (R-Plainwell).

That recording, obtained by The Detroit News revealed the plot.  Courser called it "innoculating the heard" or planting a fake story so terrible, that no one would believe the truth.

But it all backfired. Now, the house speaker has ordered a full investigation. There could now be dispilinary action.

Two stories are at play, according to Lansing insider Tim Skubick - the alleged affair and the alleged behaviour afterwards.

State Democrats are seizing on the situation, some calling for the two lawmakers to resign. Others are calling it premature.

House Speaker Kevin Cotter is promising an investigation.

Both state reps involved are marries with children and associate with the Tea Party.

Courser has confirmed that it is his voice on the tape the the Detroit News.
