If you think something could explode, probably don't touch it.

That's the message MSP Metro Detroit is sending out Monday after they say someone brought an artillery shell into a police station.

The department tweeted out that the Michigan State Police bomb squad headed to the Redford Police Department after some old explosives were brought in. Police said one inert item was recovered from the department and 29 live and inert items were found at the citizen's home.

THe MSP Bomb Squad cleared Redford Township around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

"If you find something in your home that you believe is an old explosive, PLEASE do not drive it to the local police station, state police post or fire department," they wrote.

MSP Metro Detroit recommends that instead -- you let police come to you.
