Flooding causes small 'river' on Metro Detroit street

The water was so high in one neighborhood from Thursday's flooding some residents say they were virtually trapped in their homes.

Record rainfall over the last 24 hours is still causing problems for residents in Metro Detroit.

On Lawrence Street near Hamilton, cars are parked on sidewalks and there is nearly a river of water on the 1100 block.

Lashonda Moore, a resident who lives in the middle of the block, says she doesn't want to take the risk of leaving.

"It's looking pretty much like a small river over here on my block and it's been flooded since yesterday from side street to side street," she said. "As of now I can't get the kids off to school because I can't even pull out of my driveway. I'm hoping that I'll be able to make it to work in a couple of hours."

Moore says she called the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, who said they will try to get her some help.
