A nice turnout in Allen Park as the community raises money for the family of a fallen Detroit Police Officer.

Officer Glenn Doss, Jr was killed in the line of duty earlier this year.

"It's sad that it has to be for an occasion like this but anything we can do it's what we are here for," Manager Martin Dunleavy said.

A crowded bar packed with people all here for a common goal, to help a family who lost a Detroit Police Officer.

"For what the police officers do for us every day the least we can do for them is throw together a fundraiser," Dunleavy said.

It was back in January when 25 year old police officer Glenn Doss responded to a domestic call only to be shot before he could exit his squad car. His partner rushed him to the hospital where Doss would die days later.

"It was really close to home when it happened and we wanted to help his family and my brother was one of the Paul bearers as well," Jeanette Moeller said.

Items were donated by the Pistons and Lions among others, all to be raffled or auctioned off to the highest bidder.

"100% of the proceeds going to finance and his son," Moeller said.

Sunday’s event drew crowds of people including members of a local motorcycle club, the Axemen, who although had never met Doss knew the impact he had just by putting on a badge every day/

"Just to show our love. We understand loss of life and especially when he gave his life to the city of Detroit," Detroit Axemen Charles Matter said.
