Funeral today for Lansing firefighter killed in hit-and-run

Family, friends and fellow firefighters gathered Wednesday to say their final goodbyes to 35-year-old Dennis Rodeman. Rodeman died in Lansing after being hit by a truck as he was collecting donations for the MDA Fill the Boot campaign.

His funeral was today at 10 a.m. at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center at Michigan State University.

The driver of the truck that killed Rodeman, 22-year-old Grant Taylor, was eventually tracked down and has been charged with first-degree murder. He's accused of intentionally running Rodeman down because the charity collection was holding up traffic.

Flags will fly at half staff across the state Wednesday in Rodeman's honor. Rodeman is also an Iraq War veteran who leaves behind a wife who is expecting their first child.
