Garbage truck catches fire at gas station

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - A garbage truck fire and explosions caught on video in Independence Township Thursday.

The incident happened at a Citgo gas station on Sashabaw Road when the garbage truck caught on fire due to a mechanical issue, police said. No injuries were reported.

The Oakland Township Fire Department responded to the scene and put out the blaze.

A loud boom can be heard in the video, as fire spread at the gas station including burning the roof of the Citgo.

The video was shot by viewer Scott Willetts, capturing the fire on tape.
