Man charged with murdering co-worker in Southgate

A man accused of shooting and killing a co-worker at a Southgate packaging company was arraigned in court Sunday.

Devon Hampton, 26, faces degree murder charges.

He was shaking in court Sunday during his arraignment as the judge read out the charges.

Police said he got into an argument with a male co-worker then pulled out a gun and killed him.

Hampton said he's not a threat because this is the first time he's ever been arrested.

"I'm not a threat to society ... I've never committed a crime in my life so I don't know why he's saying I'm a threat to society," he said in court.

Police said the murder took place Friday morning at AJM Packaging Company in Southgate.

Hampton is being held in the Wayne County jail.
