Man listed in critical condition after being shot in Taylor, police investigate

A man is now in critical condition after being gunned down and shot in the 6700 block of McGuire in Taylor Friday morning around 9:00 a.m.

Neighbors say they woke up to police cars and crime tape.

"I'm actually shocked," said neighbor Evelyn Nugent. "Scared, a little worried."

Evidence markers were placed on the scene showing exactly where the shooting happened.

"I woke up to a phone call from my daughter who was worried about me," Nugent said. "She was afraid that someone close to me had been shot. I was fine, thankfully."

Taylor Police aren't saying what led up to the shooting, but they are working to find the gunman who drove off after shots were fired.

"I've been in this little corner for 20 plus years and nothing has ever happened over here," Nugent said. "It's been a very quiet and peaceful little neighborhood."

Police say no one else was hurt during the time of the shooting.

"I'm thankful it didn't today, very thankful, especially with all the kids around here," Nugent said.

Nugent said whatever caused the whole thing, it did not have to end in gun.

"Stop this, this is ridiculous, Nugent said. "Why are you people doing this? It's dumb."

Taylor Police are still looking for tips. If you know anything, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Crime-Stoppers.
