National prescription drug take back day is April 30

Drug addiction in this country has reached epidemic levels, now you are being asked to help keep prescription painkillers out of the wrong hands.

Tomorrow, April 30,  is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The US Drug Enforcement Administration has set up locations where you can safely discard the pills.

Overdoses are now the leading cause of injury deaths in the U.S. surpassing car crashes and gun violence. About 47,000  people died of a drug overdose in 2014.

About 80 percent of heroin users were first addicted to pain meds before using the street drug.
