New York Police Department's humorous fanny pack PSA

For many years fanny packs have been deemed a fashion faux paus. Now, you may have noticed they're starting to creep back into the mix.

And, if you choose to wear one, the New York Police Department wants to make sure you do it safely.

The 24th Precinct took to Twitter with a funny PSA about fanny pack placement. The photo depicts two ways to wear a fanny pack: one where the pack is worn "protected" on the front by the stomach, and the other being worn "vulnerably" on the back.

Their message? Basically, either way you wear a fanny pack is hideous-looking, but wearing it in the front at least keeps your stuff protected.

Hey, they say they're not the fashion police, but that fanny packs present a special case.
