The search is on for a hit-and-run driver who injured a teenager on a bicycle -- then kept going.

"There is no excuses here, where 'I don't know what I hit,'" said Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.

The Macomb County Sheriff says what happened to a 15-year-old girl riding her bike near L'Anse Creuse North high school was a hit and run. Plain and simple.

Police are looking for a dark colored Chevrolet Malibu pictured in a video from the area. It happened around 8 a.m. Thursday. Police say the bike rider had the right-of-way and this Chevy Malibu will likely have front end damage.

"As she was crossing from southbound to northbound on Crocker at 16 Mile a southbound vehicle came and struck her," Wickersham said.

The sheriff says you can see the Malibu in this department of roads camera recording.

"We are looking for the public's help," Wickersham said. "We're looking for the dark colored Chevy Malibu or someone who knows who drives that car."

The actual collision happens off camera.

"She went up over the hood and then the vehicle took off," he said.

But you can see someone run over to help

"Two people stopped to help and we are happy to say she went to the hospital but went home to recover," Wickersham.
