Serial home invader in Pontiac, resident ready to fight back: ‘I’ve got something for him'

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is warning Pontiac residents of a serial home invader who broke into several homes and is targeting young women.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard put out a release on Wednesday about a suspect who authorities said broke into several homes with a knife and choked a 10-year-old girl.

According to the release, the break-ins date back to Dec. 23 and all occurred between 3 and 7 a.m. Each time, the suspect broke in through an unlocked window and appeared to target teenage or adolescent females.

What we know:

The sheriff said on Tuesday, the man broke into a home and choked a young girl.

"He is going through open windows. This particular time he was going after a 10 year old girl and he was frightened off by her screams," said Oakland County Sheriff Sgt. Sam James.

The man is described as a light skin Black man with a thin build, standing between 5'7" and 6 feet. It's estimated that he is between 17 and 21 years old and has been wearing a ski mask with dark clothes each time. He was never seen getting into a car and authorities think he's on foot.

All four break-ins over the past six weeks have all happened in the same neighborhood in Pontiac.

"We're asking people to make sure they’re vigilant, to make sure they’re securing their doors and windows and if they have rung cameras to make sure they’re up and operational," James said.

The break-ins have neighbors in the area, just off of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and south of M59, concerned but vigilant.

"I’m keeping her close to me and not letting her get far from me at all. I’m going to keep my eyes and ears open for my neighborhood," resident Troy Craft said.

Craft, a father in his own right, is keeping an eye on what's happening and has a message for the guy.

"I tell you I’ve got something for him if he comes to my crib," Craft said.

What we don't know:

The sheriff has a limited description of the man but are keeping a close eye out for a suspect in the area.
