A lot of people are rooting for the underdog. The United Shore Professional Baseball League kicked off its first season this year at jimmy john's field in Utica.

At first people questioned if it would succeed. But this league is certainly hitting a home run with fans.

Welcome to Jimmy John's Field in Utica. The home of the Utica Unicorns - Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers -- and Eastside Diamond Hoppers.

The United Shore Professional Baseball League kicked off its first season Memorial Day weekend. Since then -- they have sold out 20 out of 25 games.

Andy Appleby founded the league. It was a project he started eight years ago. He believes the secret to success -- is giving the people what they want.

"The league has been universally applauded from just about anyone whose come here and i think part of it is they probably didn't expect it to be such a premium experience at a less than premium price," he said. "Families can afford to come here. That's the nice thing, and kids. these are memories they'll have forever."

The kids not only have an opportunity to meet the players -- they also get to work on their own baseball skills during pre-game clinics.

Tickets for games start at $6  for the lawn seats. And if you're wondering about the talent level, four players have already been picked up by Major League Baseball teams.
