Tour Belle Isle in style in a Ford Model A

You've probably seen Henry Ford's Model A in a museum, but now you can experience the historic car up close and personal by hopping in the passenger seat.

"Everyone thinks of cars when they think of Detroit."

When Lisa Stolarski moved to Detroit in 2013, the first thing that came to her mind was the automobile and the inspiration it created.

"The American Dream and the middle class really bloomed up from there - from the idea that people could actually afford to have the machines that they were manufacturing in the factories," she said.

She wanted to celebrate some Detroit history by allowing people to come inside the car so she bought a Ford Model A and now gives tours on Belle Isle for you to enjoy.

"You can go to museums and see cars but the thing about the automobile is that it's really not a museum experience exactly. People want to sit in a car. They want to feel the wind in their hair," she said. "We will show you Belle Isle from a perspective that you have never seen before."

Rick Smith of antiquetouring.com says he's been to Belle Isle over 1,000 times.

"I think I've learned more about the island in the last three months than I have in the previous 40 years," he said.
