Troy police arrest suspect for stabbing co-worker with pen

In Troy, police arrested a woman accused of stabbing her co-worker with a pen.

Officers made an arrest in the middle of SB I-75, a little after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

"We responded to a report of an assault involving an employee assaulting another employee," said Sgt. Meghan Lehman, Troy police.

The suspect is a 28-year-old woman from Redford who works at Custom Home Healthcare at the 888 W. Big Beaver office building.

"The initial report was (the employee was) stabbed with a pen," Lehman said.

Troy police say the victim was speaking with the suspect about having her pay for damaged company equipment.

The suspect then reportedly grabbed the victim, dragged her across the room and stabbed her with a pen - then fled the building.

"We stopped the suspect, located her, and arrested the suspect," Lehman said. "But we are still continuing our investigation."

The suspect is in custody awaiting formal charges. But it was a tricky police operation.

"When we stop people on the freeway, it can be very dangerous," Lehman said. "So we want to make sure we do it safely so passing cars can see more police cars and the safer everyone is with more lights and more options to keep people safe."

At this point, the victim's injuries appear to be minor.
