Winter Blast weekends continue in downtown Detroit

The highlight this go-round is free skiing and snowboarding courtesy of Boyne Highlands.

"We pulled out all the stops, we brought down a team of four snowmakers that have been here since last Friday making snow," said Richard Wren. " We are going to bring that up north skiing experience right here to the city and teach you how to do it."

It's a pretty cool opportunity especially for those who have never set foot on skis or a snowboard.

Winter Blast organizer Jon Witz said what you can look forward to this weekend at Campus Martius.

"We have spectacular ice carvings, we have food trucks, we have a heated tent with free kids activities courtesy of Chemical Bank, live music at night, skiing and snowboarding for free and then of course you can skate on the fabulous rink at Campus Martius Park," he said.

The hours for Winter Blast weekend is 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

We have two more weekends to look forward to after this one, February 8th to the 10th and February 15th to the 17th in downtown Detroit.
