Detroit firefighters spent hours battling a fire Monday that typically would only take about an hour to extinguish in warmer weather. Cold temperatures not only lead to reduced water pressure and frozen lines, but increases the risk of injuries such as falls. 

Enrollment for Rx Kids Detroit begins Monday. This program provides cash to mothers during pregnancy, as well as during the first six months of their baby's life.

Police on a routine patrol discovered a woman's body in the street near Palmer Park at about 6 p.m. Sunday night. The body was found near Hershey and Annin Streets, which is just a few blocks from Woodward and 7 Mile.  The body was wrapped in at least two types of cloth and plastic bags when police arrived.

In a conversation with Hilary Golston Former FBI Special Agent Ken Gray says any potential U.S. military action against Iran could carry immediate global implications, but may be likely. Gray examines Iran’s strength through a now diminished network of allied groups across the Middle East. Are they capable of launching retaliatory attacks on U.S. forces, allies, and commercial shipping?

A man led Allen Park Police officers on a chase through the city, and then was pursued by the Michigan State Police with group troopers and the Trooper 2 helicopter.  The vehicle eventually came to a stop in Detroit, when the driver and passenger both tried to flee.  The 23-year-old female passenger was left behind by the suspect and was taken into custody.  The driver continued running through the neighborhood with troopers close behind him. A Taser was deployed and the 34-year-old suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Two sisters, Shayle and Loghan, who attend Stoney Creek High School lost their father this week, and lost their mother two years ago.  Family and the community are attempting to raise money for their care and educations.  A GoFundMe has been started for them: https://www.gofundme.com/f/stability-for-shayle-and-loghans-future

City officials are still investigating what caused the Friday night partial collapse at the parking structure.  One person was trapped inside the structure for multiple hours before he was pulled to safety. 

The Mid-Town bar is closing after 31 years as the building is unable to be heated anymore.  The building was heated by the Detroit Thermal System, which is no longer able to be used, according to the bar owner.
