Deputies: Drunk man playing Pokémon Go leaves trail of debris after hit-and-run

A drunk man playing Pokémon Go crashed into another car and then left the scene, Commerce Township police say.

It was just after noon on Thursday when deputies were called tot he 200 block of Meadows Circle East to a report of a hit-and-run crash. Witnesses told police a vehicle hit a parked car and then left the secne.

Deputies arrived and found the parked vehicle with damage. They also found a trail of debris. When they followed that, they found the other vehicle involved and the responsible driver.

According to deputies, the man was under the influence of alcohol and was taken to the hospital for a blood draw and treatment for his injuries.

Deputies said the man told them he was in the area and searching for Pokémon creatures on his phone while driving when he hit the parked car.

The man has been only identified as a 28-year-old Walled lake man and is being held in the Oakland County Jail.
