Detroit barbershop thieves caught on camera

Thieves burst into a Detroit barber shop and it's all caught on camera.

FOX 2 first met Dante Williams earlier this year beaming with pride about a grant he received to help him grow his Cutz Lounge The Grooming Shop business in Detroit

"The Prosper Us program allowed me to capture this space for people to come get a haircut and relax," said Williams.

But on Saturday just before 2 a.m. Williams says two suspects broke into Cutz Lounge, The Grooming Shop as his security cameras were rolling.

"The first thing I can think of is dollars," he said. "As hard as it is already we now have to spend money to fix a window and replace items stolen."

Williams says four guys were seen outside of his business but only two forced their way inside.

"They took the TV and came back to remove the other TV in our lounge," Williams said. "Then they went through some drawers to find whatever they can.  A couple of laptops, small minor cash from the snack bar, couple of items that I'm finding missing."

Williams says police are investigating and he hopes anyone who recognizes the suspects will speak up.

"They were able to get fingerprints," Williams said. "I really don't want to be the person who sends some more young black men to jail, but it's not me it's a decision that they made."

Williams says this break-in is upsetting but it won't make him leave Detroit.

"No, I don't think so," he said. "I think the spirit of Detroit is strong right now and the voices of entrepreneurs are starting to speak loudly."
