Donald Trump, Jr. campaigns across metro Detroit for father

It is election eve and it's now a sprint in the race to the white house.

The Trump and Clinton campaigns, crisscrossing several swing states, including here in Michigan.

In metro-Detroit, Donald Trump, Jr. is trying to help his dad win some last-minute votes.

Speaking to around 200 or so during an afternoon stop at the Ukrainian Cultural Center Monday afternoon, Donald Trump Jr. highlighted the fact that his dad has spent the past 18 months running a presidential race from the outside and now it’s time to let him in.

"We have an opportunity to elect someone to The White House who is not part of the problem, that created the mess that we are in in this country," Trump, Jr. said. "That's not something that comes around very often or that happens every other election cycle or every decade."

FOX 2: "He plays up the fact that he is an outsider I'm not part of this mess does it work?"

"The best slogan I've heard him say this morning 'I'm not a politician, so my only special interest is you,'" said Denise Edwards, a Trump supporter. "I'm like where was that, 18 months ago."

The election is now being measured in hours and judging by the blue jean and windbreaker look of Donald Trump Jr., every second in Michigan counts.

"If all those people are against you, you are doing something right," Trump, Jr. said.

Trump Jr. was welcomed with open arms in Warren and given a customary gift of bread and salt. He also took a moment to pose for pictures and even climbed aboard a homemade Trump bridge display. 

"(He said) 'We love what you did, we are proud of you,'" said bridge creator Rob Cortis. "That made me feel like a million dollars."

There were no enemies at this campaign stop although he admits America as a whole, has a few and he says his dad has a plan when it comes to that.

"If they could push a button they would wipe us off the face of the earth," Trump Jr. says.  "I'm hearing people say 'We should be more concerned with their feelings' than ourselves and our children and I say enough."

Trump's running mate Mike Pence was also in Michigan speaking in Traverse City playing up the importance of this election.

"I honestly believe this is the most dramatic choice we will ever face in our lifetime."

All in an overwhelming effort to make sure every voter has their voice heard before the polls close on Tuesday.
