Father of Tsimhoni children files for sole parental custody

The father of three children who were held at a Oakland County detention center filed a petition Thursday.

Omer Tsimhoni's petition was for sole legal and physical custody of the children,  ages 14, 10 and 9.

The motion was filed with the Oakland County Circuit Court, according to its website.

The Tsimhoni children were allowed to leave Children's Village last week to go to a summer camp with counseling.

Omer Tsimhoni has been in Israel with his new wife. He and the children's mother Maya Tsimhoni, were divorced in 2011 and engaged in a long court battle since.

In a story first reported by Taryn Asher, the children had been found in contempt by Judge Lisa Gorcyca for refusing to have a "healthy relationship" with their father.

A June 24 family court hearing included harsh comments by Gorcyca that outraged some, including her claiming the children to be brainwashed on par with "the Manson family."
