Teen killed in fatal ATV crash in Redford Township Sunday night

The fatal crash happened near Kinloch and Six Mile in Redford Township around 8:30 p.m. The victim was later identified as a 15-year-old male.

The crash happened just after 8 p.m. Sunday night, involving a 4-wheeler and at least one other vehicle. Redford Township police said that there was one person dead, but didn't release any further information right away.  The age and gender of the deceased have not been released.  A man who was shopping at the store on the corner said he heard a loud thud and came out of the store to see the crash scene.

Michael "Mike B." Brown, the owner of Detroit's Sloppy Chops, died after he was shot early March 1.  On Sunday his family gathered to honor his life and release balloons in remembrance of him.

Cleanup continues in southwestern Michigan after four confirmed tornados struck the region. An EF 3 touched down in Union City, and EF 2 touched down in Three Rivers and two smaller tornadoes also hit the region.  In total four people were killed and 12 more injured in the storm outbreak.

GLWA said that the "filling process" is taking longer than expected due to an isolation valve in the system malfunctioning. It said field service crews are working to isolate portions of the system to build pressure faster.

A woman is claiming she was discriminated against after the manager's of Pinball Pete's in East Lansing said she was too petite to work there.  Melissa Rill is suing for lost wages and gender discrimination.  The arcade declined to comment. 

Body found floating in Bolles Harbor

The body of a 34-year-old Sterling Heights woman was discovered floating in Bolles Harbor just before noon Saturday.

State of emergency declared after west Michigan tornado

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency in several areas along the path of the tornado in the southwest side of the state.  Cleanup began Saturday after it was announced that at least four people had died, three in Union City and a fourth in Cass County.  Penni Jo Guthrie was identified as one of the victims, another was a 13-year-old boy. The other victims have not yet been publicly identified.

A major break in a 48‑inch GLWA transmission main on 14 Mile Road at Verona, between Drake and Farmington Road in Farmington Hills, caused flooding in the area, leading to road and trail closures as well as isolated flooding in nearby subdivisions and walkways in the City. GLWA crews remain on‑site working to restore water service to all impacted communities. 14 Mile Road remains closed, and the River Trail in Heritage Park is closed until further notice for public safety. Some walkways in nearby neighborhoods continue to be affected by isolated flooding.

2 dead in Lodi Township crash

A Newport woman and a Saline man were killed at about 4 p.m. Friday when they were involved in a head-on collision on Ann Arbor-Saline Road, near Bluegrass Lane.
