Shooter fires at car with children inside during road rage incident on I-96 in Detroit

Police are investigating a road rage shooting after someone fired at a car on I-96 in Detroit on Friday night.

The shooting was reported at 11:10 p.m., about an hour after the incident.

Police said the caller, a passenger, and a 5-year-old and 2-month-old child got onto eastbound I-96 from I-94 in a Ford Focus. According to police, the caller started to road rage with a black Camaro with a soft top. During the incident, two shots were fired at the Focus in the area of I-96 and Buchanan. The car was hit, but no one inside the car was struck.

The occupants in the Focus said they did not see a weapon or who fired the shots. They also did not see the driver of the Camaro but said the passenger was a heavyset black female.

The caller continued driving to Ecorse and reported the shooting when they got back home to Detroit.
