Swatch release postponed after crowds cause issues at Somerset Collection
Troy police estimated hundreds of people gathered at the Somerset Collection early Saturday for the Swatch release. Two people were cited for trespassing after refusing to leave when asked by mall security. Swatch canceled the release event and closed the Troy store, along with eight other locations, for the remainder of the day because of safety concerns.

Berkley police are seeking whoever was passing out antisemitic fliers wrapped up with packets of corn, in neighborhoods between 11 Mile and 12 Mile, and Woodward and Coolidge overnight May 16.

Michigan State Police cruiser struck overnight on I-696
A Metro North trooper conducted a traffic stop on westbound I‑696 near Woodward Avenue. After completing the stop he observed a Honda traveling directly toward his patrol car. To avoid being hit, he ran across the freeway. After the Honda passed him he got in his patrol car and stopped the Honda on. westbound I‑696 just before Main Street. While speaking with the driver of the Honda, a Kia approached at a high rate of speed and struck the patrol car.
