"We had four suicides in two years with three children and one of our staff members," said Keith Garrison.

"We survived, I survived my own bullying, I survived my own coming out, so can you," said Joe Kort.

You may know that bullying can lead to depression, but what's even more troubling is that those issues don't go away when the bullying stops.

Mental health professionals are asking for the state department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to reconsider a plan that would revoke their privileges to diagnose and conditions for their patients.

Ronnie Clopton had a lot of trouble focusing while he was in school. He said by the time he graduated, he really couldn't focus on anything. Saturday on Belle Isle, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) was out in force as walkers warmed up before lacing up their shoes for the organization's yearly walk to raise awareness and erase the stigma of mental illness. 

Tiffany Jenkins grew up around alcohol, drugs and a subsequent addiction that led her down a dark path in high school. The daily struggle was magnified by depression and eventually led to her dropping out of school. Now, years later she blogs about those experiences, infusing and sarcasm into those stories. Licensed Professional Counselors maintain a vital role in helping people struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression or other mental illnesses. However, many of those professionals are worried the scope of their work could be changed with a new proposal in Michigan's licensing department.
