He hugged his daughter after throwing his final pitch, and less importantly, recorded his 3,560th career strikeout as the Tigers beat the Pirates 4-3 Saturday afternoon. For Verlander it was the final appearance of his 21-year career, of which 14 seasons were spent in an Olde English D, playing for the Tigers. He went 5.1 innings, striking out 6 and giving up two runs on his final day on the mound.
