A record 311,000 people filed initial unemployment claims in Mich. last week

More than 300,000 new claims for unemployment were made in Michigan last week, with many spending hours either on the phone or online trying to file a claim during this Covid-19 crisis.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is planning to announce Thursday that unless kids are back in school by mid-May, the rest of the school year will be canceled. To supplement the missed time for academia, Republicans want there to be some form of online learning over the summer.
