General Motors shared highlights of its latest offer to the UAW as the strike nears one month.

Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis have laid off more employees as the UAW strike continues.

The layoffs include 520 at the Trenton Engine Complex.

Suppliers are also starting to suffer from the strike as workers walk off the line, impacting both assembly plants and the parts and components facilities that feed them.

They join tens of thousands of other striking workers that are picketing the Detroit 3 automakers over a failure to secure a contract.

Negotiations continue between the UAW and Big Three after automakers avoided having more facilities added to the strike late last week.

The UAW represents about 4,000 Mack workers in three states. Union leaders had reached a tentative agreement on the deal on Oct. 1.

The Big Three’s push toward ramped-up electric vehicle design and production has been a major sticking point for the union as it relates to job security.

No expanded strike was announce Friday, a sign of encouraging movement in negotiations with the Detroit 3 automakers.

GM agreed to put its electronic vehicle battery manufacturing plants under the UAW national master agreement Friday, just as the union was about to strike at the automaker's Arlington Assembly Plant.

So far, 30% of the suppliers represented by the trade group of MEMA have reported some form of layoff. By mid-October, that could rise to 60%.

UAW President Shawn Fain has called an update for Friday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. as the strike is now reached three weeks long.
