The Wayne County Prosecutor has declined to press charges in the shooting death of Hakim Littleton, who was struck four times during a shootout with Detroit police last summer.

She was diagnosed in March 2020 with Covid and then developed a rare form of meningitis and swelling of the brain - which would cause her death a month later. She was the daughter of two first responders.

The shooting death of Hakim Littleton happened shortly after a wave of protests and civil unrest erupted in Detroit and cities around America last year. Police have maintained the decisions made by officers that day were appropriate.

The brother of Hakim Littleton says he is still haunted by his death after a shootout with Detroit police. "Sometimes I can't sleep because I miss him so deeply, that sometimes I cry myself to sleep," Rashad Littleton said.
