Detroit police are still piecing together what happened after an 8-year-old boy was shot and killed with an unsecured gun inside a home over the weekend.

“There were two kids near the gun," he said. "We don’t know enough to say whether or not the 8-year-old shot himself or another kid shot him.”

"They got lobster tails, snow crab, shrimp, there were four," said Red Sea owner Suhail Mohammed. "They had a good amount of food."

“The suspect, who is from Romulus, was intoxicated both with narcotics and alcohol - he went through a possible overdose while he was driving, and lost control of the vehicle," White said.

“I don’t feel sorry because I saved my own life, but I do feel bad that somebody lost theirs," said the 72-year-old, who says he was defending himself when a vehicle began targeting him.

The babies were returned close to 12 hours after being taken from a hotel unit in Livonia. Why they were taken and who returned them to police remains part of the investigation.

The teen was fleeing police when he struck the SUV, killing a pregnant woman and her unborn child. The family's 2-year-old and their husband were hospitalized with severe injuries.

Several children have been accidentally shot because a firearm that was left unsecured this year.

An AMBER Alert was issued Monday morning as police searched for two infants. The boys were turned into the Detroit Police Department's 9th Precinct.

Two suspects fled after filling a bag with nearly $2,500 worth of lotion at a Bloomfield Township CVS earlier this month.

Police are searching for a woman who caused a crash on US-23 and then fled the scene Saturday in Livingston County.

Police are searching for two women accused of abducting 2-week-old Montana Alexander Bridges and Matthew Jace Bridges from Livonia. The kidnapping prompted an AMBER Alert.

Sheriff Mike Bouchard said that one of the attacks on a deputy was over an inmate not getting what they thought was enough food.

Grandmother Sandra and mom Stacy say Neveah and her younger brother were in the back seat of a car being driven by an adult female cousin. They say she had been drinking and was drag racing when the crash happened.

The deputies were sitting in their marked vehicles with emergency lights on blocking traffic on the shoulder and the left lane of M-59 when they were rear-ended in the crash.

The child was pronounced deceased at the hospital, according to investigators.

The man was blocking traffic at the time of the shooting. He was holding a coat in one hand then pointed a gun at the officer, who was on patrol at the time.
